The Hodari Scholars Foundation

                                                             Educating Tanzanian Girls;

                                                                             Changing Tanzanian Lives

    Hodari Scholars provides secondary school scholarships to Tanzanian girls who are eligible to continue their education, but don’t have the financial means to do so.

    In Tanzania students must pay to attend secondary school.  Although the cost may seem minimal in our world, nearly half of eligible girls are unable to attend because they cannot pay the necessary fees and costs.  Hodari (which means “courageous” in Swahili) Scholars helps these students, so that they, too, may realize the many benefits that come with a secondary education in Tanzania.

    Hodari Scholars currently provides four-year scholarships.  Girls are selected on the basis of financial need, primary school grade reports, and other criteria.  They attend private girls boarding schools and are monitored on their academic achievement.

    The cost of a scholarship to attend private boarding school is generally from $1,000 to $1,200 a year.  Scholarships cover school fees and other costs.

    Hodari Scholars believes educating girls is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty in which so many Tanzanians find themselves today.  You can help break this cycle by contributing at the Donor, Sponsor or Patron level as explained in How to Help.
